Diagnostics
Speech Consultations: 35-to-45-minute informal meeting with child and parent to determine how a child is developing the sounds and communication of their primary language(es) and assess the need for further evaluation of skills and/or therapy. Recommendations and referrals are made if necessary.
Social Skills Consultations: 30-minute informal meeting with child and parent to determine the appropriateness of a social skills group and which group at Speachy would be the best fit for the needs of the client.
Orofacial Myofunctional Consultation: 30-to 45-minute meeting to evaluate the anatomy and physiology (structure and movement) of the face and tongue. Inspection of labial and lingual frenula is done to check for tongue and lip ties. Breathing, swallowing, and speech are also screened.
Please note: There is no written report or note produced from consultations. Any request for written documentation is charged a separate fee-please refer to the fees page for more information.
Evaluation / Assessment
- Articulation and Phonological Development
- Comprehensive evaluation for articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, and oral-motor skills.
- Social pragmatics and social-behavioral skills
- Comprehensive speech-language evaluation with auditory processing disorder screening and auditory skills component.
An evaluation is a more extensive assessment of speech, language, and learning skills and often involves an extended appointment or several sessions. Verbal feedback is given AND a formal evaluation report is written and sent within two to four weeks following the final day of testing.
